Ridgid NXT Max Wet/Dry Vac Accessories
Ridgid realized that when it comes to vacuuming, there is no size fits all solution. So to fit the needs of different vacuuming applications, they’ve come out with a new line of wet/dry vac accessories.
These accessories are designed for their heavy duty wet/dry vacuums with 2-1/2″ hoses.
They consists of new NXT tools (nozzles) and shoes that are designed specifically to pair with their intended nozzle tool.
The nozzles themselves are not entirely new designs and capture the tried and tested nozzles we’ve all encountered in the past, but designed to accept their new NXT Max accessory shoes. These new NXT Max tool nozzles include a utility nozzle, floor tool nozzle, crevice tool nozzle, car nozzle, and rotating dusting brush nozzle.
These new NXT Max accessories are part of their swap and lock attachment system for 2-1/2″ hose Ridgid wet/dry vacuums.
Below we’ll be taking a closer look into each new tool nozzle and its specific accessory shoes.
Ridgid NXT Max Utility Nozzle & Shoes
Ah the good ol’ utility nozzle. This is the nozzle that most wet/dry vacs have included and is your general purpose nozzle. It’s a jack of all trades, master of none nozzle that’s good for general purposes. Though not as specialized as other nozzles. For example not as wide as a floor nozzle, not as slim as crevice nozzle, etc. This nozzle has three available shoe attachments, with a hard bristle shoe that’s goof for scrubbing hard packed debris as you vacuum, a soft bristle shoe that’s good for carpets and being delicate on delicate surfaces as it “sweeps” as it vacs, and a soft rubber shoe that’s good for removing hair off of carpets and upholstery.
One cool feature that’s found on the NXT utility and floor nozzles are that the shoes allow for hands-free install and removal. They simply snap into place, and when you want to remove them, you press your foot on the tab in the back and pull up on the nozzle and release. A cool idea though you’ll still need to pick up the shoe off the ground eventually.
Ridgid NXT Max Floor Tool Nozzle & Shoes
With a similar design as the utility nozzle, the floor tool nozzle is wider for a wider suction path making it a great option for floors. This nozzle also has three available shoes. A hard bristle shoe that’s good for scrubbing packed on debris, a soft bristle brush for carpets and delicate hard surfaces and provides a “sweeping” action as it vacuums, and a wet shoe.
The wet shoe has a unique design in that it’s fully enclosed on the underside and has a slit opening with a central rubber blade that can squeegee and suck liquids off of hard surfaces in both pulling and pushing motion.

Ridgid NXT Max Crevice Tool Nozzle & Shoes
If a vacuum comes with more than one nozzle, there’s usually a crevice nozzle attachment included.
This nozzle offers a slim profile that just like its name suggests, can easily fit between tight crevices. Great for getting into tight corners, between couch cushions, and that dreaded space between your car seat and center console.
The NXT crevice tool has two available shoes and both are bristle shoes with a hard and soft bristle option with the softer bristles better suited for more delicate surfaces.
These shoes have a button tab for easy install and removal.
Ridgid NXT Max Car Tool Nozzle & Shoes
The car nozzle is similar to the crevice nozzle but a little bit thicker and different profile making it more general purpose and great for general purpose car vacuuming.
There are 3 available NXT Max accessory shoes. A hard and soft bristle shoe for a “sweeping” action as it vacuums, and the softer bristles better suited for delicate surfaces. There’s also a soft rubber shoe for hair removal on carpeted and upholstered surfaces.
These shoes have a button tab for easy install and removal.
Ridgid NXT Max Rotating Dusting Brush Nozzle & Shoes
While all the other nozzles mentioned before can be used without their respective shoes, this NXT Max rotating dusting brush nozzle is designed to be used with a shoe attached. Technically you can use it without a shoe, but unlike its name, the rotating dusting brush nozzle doesn’t feature a brush at all but instead the brush is on the shoes.
The rotating dusting brush nozzle does allow for a rotation to give it a 45 degree angle for an additional vacuuming angle. Four available shoe options include a soft and hard bristle shoe, with the soft bristle for delicate surfaces. There’s also a soft rubber shoe for hair removal on carpeted and upholstered surfaces. There’s even an inner bristle shoe. While the other three shoes have the bristles on the outer part of the circle that can push debris out of the way, the inner bristles on the inner bristle shoe do not push away debris and allow them to easily move into the nozzle for easier suction.
Ridgid NXT Max Tools & Shoes Availability
There will be a variety of tools and shoes and kits. They will be available in the Home Depot online and in-store with the online options launching in late August 2024, and the accessories in store in mid September. Ridgid says that there will also be an optional cloth storage organizer that fits onto select vacs for onboard storage of these new NXT Max tools and shoes. There will also be a telescoping extension wand.
