Ryobi 18V HP Brushless Edger – Features

Ryobi currently has a standalone 18V edger, their P2310 model. It’s still sporting a brushed motor so there was a gap to fill as there were no brushless 18V edger options in the Ryobi realm. That is until now that they have a new 18V HP brushless model.

This new HP brushless model runs on Ryobi’s 18V batteries which is good so that you can use the same batteries that run your highlighter green power tools. This edger has a familiar shape and design to a string trimmer being on a pole with similar handles and arm placement. It features variable speed trigger control.

Unlike a string trimmer, this edger is sporting an 8″ steel edging blade to help cut through grass, roots, and dirt quickly and easily. This is interesting because brushless tools usually outdo their brushed counterparts. Yet this model has a smaller blade than the 9 incher on the brushed motor model before it. Unlike the brushed motor version, this new model has an open blade guard design that fully exposes the blade on the right side. This may seem like a safety issue however the guard that’s there will offer protection since it’s designed to be operated from the left side.

The depth of cut can be adjusted between .5” – 2.25”.

The above image shows two wheels so you can run the edger along the sidewalk, curb, or driveway and for stability. There’s also a blade indicator (not shown) to help align the cut line with the blade.

There’s also a spindle lock that helps to make blade changes easy.

It will be available in May 2023 for $239 for the P2302BTL baretool and $269 for the kit P2312. The kit comes with a 4ah battery and charger.
